Sort of audio talk: DVDR media

I just bought a really slick Sony dvd recorder/vcr. I want to use it to transfer videos of musical performances to dvd from vhs. This machine will use DVD+ and DVD- media. . . . I bought some DVD+ Maxell blanks and burned one two hour dvdr, really easily and successfully.

I don't quite understand the difference between the + and - media and which may be the most practical both fiscally and operationally. If anyone can enlighten me, thanks.

Okay, a little checking made me believe that they're basically the same operationally (some editing things are possible with + that aren't with -) but that - are more compatible with more dvd players.

I think the + format records at a faster speed than the -.
