Jim R Posted November 24, 2005 Report Posted November 24, 2005 Feel free to let me know if this topic already exists for the new season... I didn't see one. Well, after watching Gonzaga's 3 OT win over Michigan State last night in the Maui Invitational, I thought it was time to start paying attention to the college game. THAT was a HELL of a basketball game, considering it's only November. I thought I was watching a final four game (except for the puny crowd in the puny gym ). The nightcap (Arizona/UConn) was pretty entertaining too, though mostly for watching Lute Olson as the game wore on and the frustrations build (I like Lute, BTW, but the drama in his expressions was riveting ). So, who do you guys like? I used to follow Stanford, but they appear to be in a sharp decline, and I prefer not to follow crappy teams. Time will tell, I guess. I've also followed Oregon for several years, thanks to an older brother who's an alum living up there. I'm also a 'Zags fan- they're always good and fun to watch. I don't really have any other favorite teams, but I love the college game and always go nuts come March. Take it away... Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted November 24, 2005 Report Posted November 24, 2005 'Zags are definitely fun to watch but my man Adam Morrison needs to shave that peach-fuzz he's trying to pass off as a mustache! What's up with that?!? I thought dudes grew out of that once they got out of high school. Anyway, that was a great game that would've been even good-er-er if State had won. They had the chance, just missed that lay-up. Tonight's game against Arizona was good, though. Another OT nail-biter! I think State is going to do well this year and I'm looking forward to watching them. I must say, I haven't been following college hoops much for the last few years and the differences between that and the NBA are pretty striking (and funny!). Quote
Jim R Posted November 24, 2005 Author Report Posted November 24, 2005 Jim, there's no way Morrison's 'stache can be compared to peach-fuzz... it's nowhere near that thick. Well, I'm glad I got to watch the final tonight, even though Few's boys lost to UConn. It provided me an escape from the crushing defeat the Spurs handed the Warriors tonight. I agree, btw, Izzo's got a pretty nice team there. I believe they handled Arizona earlier tonight in the consolation game (not that Arizona looks very good right now). I also saw a little bit of UCLA's loss to Memphis in the NIT. The Bruins continue to look ragged, and sometimes lost... not sure how they're ranked 16th in the nation. Quote
wolff Posted November 24, 2005 Report Posted November 24, 2005 West Coast wise, Gonzaga is good as usual. Been keeping my eye on Washington. They will be solid again this year. They play the Zags on Dec. 4th, I think. I hope I can get tickets. Huge game up here. Washington is 0-4 and against them. The Washington frosh, Brockman(#1 Best in West '05) is a stud, and putting up numbers out of the gate. WA next recruiting class was rated 3rd best. Friggin' who's who of Best In The West Top 15. Pondexter(I played some against his dad and uncle) from Fresno, along with Hawes(#2 big man in nation) and others will put this team in the final 4 in a year or two. Quote
