Rosco Posted December 12, 2005 Report Posted December 12, 2005 Some time ago I rather rashly agreed to help put together a website for a jazz workshop I'm involved in. Probably not the best idea, as I'm something of a technoklutz and have absolutely no idea what I'm doing with a computer about 75% of the time. Nevertheless, I was willing to give it a go and I have the time to figure out what I'm doing as I go along. Someone gave me Dreamweaver 3 to work with. I installed it Saturday and started working my way through the 440 page (!) instruction manual. Seem to be making some progress (or at least enough for our purposes) and it's quite satisfying to put something together that looks half decent. However, since installing Dreamweaver I've been having problems with the internet. Things keep freezing on me and refusing to respond; I have to use Windows task manager to close the browser. Then, when I click on the Internet Explorer icon to try opening up the internet again nothing happens. The timer icon appears for a couple of seconds as though it's about to do something, but then disappears again and no browser opens. The only way I can get Internet Explorer working again is to log off and reboot, which I'm having to do with irritating frequency. When Windows is closing down I get a message box pop up telling me 'iexplorer.exe' is closing (if I attempt to open the internet browser four times, say, I'll get four of these messages). In exasperation I've done a system restore to before I installed the software and everything seems to be working fine, so it seems Dreamweaver is screwing with my internet connection. I've searched the Dreamweaver site for advice to no avail and I can't find anything in the Performance and Maintenance troubleshooter of my computer. So... anyone got any ideas? And bear in mind, you'll have to dumb your answers waaaaaaay down! Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted December 13, 2005 Report Posted December 13, 2005 I have no idea why that would be the case. I ran DW 4 for years (now using DW MX) and never had any problems like that. I wouldn't even know where to begin. Sorry. Quote
Guest Posted December 13, 2005 Report Posted December 13, 2005 don't know if this counts, but in 1976 maybe 77 there was a special boy who used me to dreamweaver on a number of ocasions Quote
