Albert Haim has posted this on the Bixography Discussion Group (I

took the liberty of mixing two different posts by him):

<<<Joe Showler, Canadian collector, historian, and writer, has an

article about Weldon Leo "Jack" Teagarden in the current isssue

(November 2005) of Joslin's Jazz Journal.

Joe began collecting Teagarden records and researching his life in

1963. He met and became friends with Helen (Jack's mother), Charlie

(brother), Norma (sister), and several other family members. For the

last three years Joe has been writing Teaarden's biography. Joe

reports that the book is finished and consists of 28 chapters and

1,000 pages. Final preparation will take several months, publication

is anticipated for the year 2006. We look forward to the publication.

Joe does not specify a publisher, but ....since he mentions "that

the book is finished", I would assume that he has a publisher.

Unfortunately, the article is not available on line. JJJ does not

even have a website.

The article mentions briefly Joe's new book. The bulk is devoted to

a detailed discussion of Jack Teagarden's date of birth. Apparently,

several early sources give August 29, 1905 as Jack's date of birth.

Joe has researched the subject very thoroughly, and provides all the

available documentation to demonstrate that Jack's correct date of

birth was August 20, 1905.Albert

PS Joe is planning another book entitled "Jack Hits the Road. It

will "detail Teagarden's travels, itinerary, and life on the road

from 1920 to 1964." >>>
