johnagrandy Posted February 19, 2006 Report Posted February 19, 2006 Is this worth adding to a nearly complete BB collection? Does Randy sing ? Quote
Free For All Posted February 19, 2006 Report Posted February 19, 2006 IMHO it's not one of their better ones, but it does have some interesting tunes and good solos amid some pop-ish stinkers. It borders on "smooth" at times, not surprising since it was produced by George Duke. And yes, Randy does sing. Unfortunately. Shut up and play trumpet, Randy! That cover is right out of Scarface! Worth picking up if you're a BB completist, I guess. Quote
Joe G Posted February 19, 2006 Report Posted February 19, 2006 (edited) That cover is right out of Scarface! I was going to ask - is that Michael Brecker, or Michael Corleone on tenor? Edited February 19, 2006 by Joe G Quote

Why does Randy keep on trying to sing? I don't get it. Even on "34th & Lex" (which overall is a fantastic set of music, great for the car) Randy sneaks in some background rap-alongs I don't know what to call them. I forget which tunes (the ones I never listen to). You'd figure after people freaked-out meeting "Randroid" in "Hangin' In The City" he'd call it quits. Meanwhile he plays horn better and better. Almost 60 now isn't he ? Edited February 19, 2006 by johnagrandy Quote
