It Happened in (Jazz At) Monterey

What is this?

Here is what I do know.

Tape Mates is in someway associated with “Everest”

Although the box mentions Monterey, it says nothing about dates, actually there is no listings of players or track times other than Ellington, Miles, Art Pepper and Bob Cooper and a list songs on the back???

If anyone knows where I might be able to chase down this info I would appreciate it.

It also mentions Art Pepper, although in an interview with Les Tomkins in 1981 he states, “I’ve never done the Monterey Jazz Festival”

It will be a couple weeks till I can get to a reel to reel machine but my guess is that this is a cheapo compilation, with cuts from here there and every where.

Has anyone seen or heard of this before?
