Alexander Hawkins
Can anyone please tell me something (anything!) about this? It's the very beautiful - even if the words are slightly peculiar - last tune on Max Roach's Soul Note album 'Pictures in a Frame' which I just picked up. I just wondered what 'Black Picture Show' was/is, or whether it's just a strange name for the song, etc. Anyway, apart from any information, does anyone else enjoy this song? There's something about it - I can't stop spinning it at the moment! Thanks in advance!
Alexander Hawkins
Up, in case anyone can help! I've got the piece stuck in my head again!
Christiern
I don't know if there is any connection but a friend of mine, the late Bill Gunn wrote a play called The Black Picture Show. It was produced by Joe Papp in New York either in the late 1960s or early 70s, if memory serves me right. The music was by Sam Waymon (Nina Simone's brother).
