Guy Berger Posted June 30, 2006 Author Report Posted June 30, 2006 (edited) It was good. It turned out to be 3 guitars/2 basses rather than 4 guitars/1 bass. (Jerome Harris played acoustic bass guitar.) The two saxophonists were excellent. I was less crazy about the guitars -- there was a lot of "passing the baton". The material included a lot of Motian originals ("Mumbo Jumbo", "Desert Dream"), Monk, some bebop, and a standard or two. I like the trio with Motian and Frisell better, though. More interplay. Guy ps I forgot to add that someone was recording the first set. It didn't look sophisticated enough to be ECM or another record label, but it was a real microphone setup.
