slide_advantage_redoux
The chances that this book has already been referenced in here is probably great, but just in case.... I read excerpts from this book in Atlantic Monthly years ago and was so impressed by them that I had to track down a copy. Don was a journeyman pianist in the Boston area for years, and his stories that share his experiences are very funny. Most musicians will probably relate to them. If you don't have this book, you really should get a copy! A great read.
paul secor
Amen. A musician friend introduced me to this book about 10-12 years ago, and it was a great read. If I didn't have dozens of other books waiting to be read, I'd take it off the shelf and reread it now. If my memory is correct, Don Asher was the co-writer on Hampton Hawes' autobiography, Raise Up Off Me.
