sheldonm
I saw two sets last night by trumpeter Jon Faddis and his quarter at the Jazz Kitchen in Indianapolis. The quarter included David Hazeltine on piano, Kiyoshi Kitagawa on bass and Dion Parson on drums. I had seen Faddis several times before but never with a quartet. I'm not a fan of the high pitched trumpet playing (ala Maynard) but thought this show and Jon's playing were excellent. If you haven't seen Jon in close quarters, he's a pretty funny guy and great player. The first set they played mostly tunes from their new cd that is being released this coming Tuesday, including: ~The Barron ~ Hunters and Gatherers ~Hey Lalo ~The Courtship ~and the title tune "Teranga" The second set was comprised of "Gillespiana" Here are a couple images from the show.
