I thought perhaps a few of us here might like to give The Bastards™ some feedback about their on-line store.

Lord knows this board alone has probably collectively bought enough stuff from The Bastards™ to fund a hell of a chunk of the IT costs of these upgrades. So, I figure we might as well help 'em get it right.

Howdy folks!

It's time again for our monthly missive -- and this go round, we've got something a bit different!

If you've been reading these newsletters for the past year or so, you'll know that we've been hinting at some big changes to come on the pages at www.dustygroove.com -- changes that should make the website even easier to use, and which should hopefully (and finally!) propel Dusty Groove into the 21st Century. We're working on these changes as we write this, and hope to have the first round of them up within a month or two -- but as we do so, we'd also like to hear from you, so that we can make sure that we're on the right track as to what we do, and how we do it!

You see, all the changes we're planning are based on suggestions you've made to us over the last few years -- changes that should address some of the issues you've had with the website, and make it an even more rewarding place to shop for music. We've always been clear with you that because we spend so much time every day tracking down great music and getting it on the website, we don't always have the time to add new features -- especially some of the fancy stuff that you'll find on other, bigger sites. But you've also been very understanding with us, and said that you'd rather have a great selection of music at good prices, instead of some of the fancier features that might mean we'd have to sacrifice our efforts on the musical front.

Well, fortunately the day has finally arrived when we not only have the time to keep the music coming, but can also make some long-awaited changes -- and as we do so, we'd like to check in with you and see if all of your suggestions are still valid. We don't want to let the cat out of the bag entirely, but we can tell you that some of the changes coming include:

--Single pages for each title we stock.

--Expanded listings for each title.

--Helpful suggestions for related music.

--Advanced sorting features, to make browsing even better.

--Lots more album covers and images.

--Additional forums for feedback and suggestions on the website.

--Audio samples for many titles. (This one is still tricky, though!)

But, as we're implementing these changes, we also still want to hear from you -- so we've set up a special address where you can send us emails about what you'd like and what you don't want to see. It's important to us to keep the pages set up in a way you approve of -- and while we already know that we've got great music, easily browsable, backed up by good service and shipping, we also want to make sure that we're offering it to you in the best way possible.

We can't promise that we'll be able to respond to every single email, but we'll sure try our hardest -- and we can definitely promise that we'll read them all, and will take all your suggestions to heart. After all, if you're not happy shopping at www.dustygroove.com , then we're not doing our job -- and we'd better make some changes!

In the meantime, we're still working hard on the musical front -- and this summer's array of great titles includes some killer funk reissues, amazing compilations, long-lost Brazilian bits, comprehensive jazz titles, and a motherlode of rare vinyl -- flowing in by the crateload on a weekly basis. It's all waiting for you over at the website, where we hope to see you soon!
