Chuck Nessa Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 Wish I could afford a ticket. DAMN! Quote
J Larsen Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 Thanks for posting this; somehow I hadn't heard about it until just now. Just made my reservation for the late show on Friday. Quote
paul secor Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 The only thing that could make it better would be if Andrew Cyrille were playing with C.T and H.G. No slight intended toward Pheeroan. It's just that the three of them were as good as it got back in my youth. Quote
sheldonm Posted October 27, 2006 Report Posted October 27, 2006 Any reviews on this show??? I spoke to Margaret as well as Henry Grimes about an hour ago (they were on their way to the Iridium for tonight's show) and Henry told me it was well attended and people appeared to be into the music in a big way. Hopefully the same tonight.....wish I could be there! m~ Quote
J Larsen Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 HOLY $*%(ING $(@#!!!!!!!! This was one of the best shows, if not the best show, I've ever seen. Thank you SO much for starting this thread, Chuck - I hadn't noticed it advertised anywhere. The *only* downside was that Henry Grimes had to use the house amp, which was obviously completely blown. However, I was sitting directly in front of him (and about 3 feet from Cecil Taylor), so I was one of about a half dozen people who could actually hear what he was playing. I'm going to be processing what went into my ears tonight for a long time. This was *not* a 60s revival thing, they were on to some new shit, and in a really good way. I really wish I had the talent some of you have for translating sound into words right now... Damn I feel lucky for having been there tonight. Quote

Guest youmustbe Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 Yes it was very, very enjoyable! I haven't heard Cecil in a long time, and he reminded me of why I liked him in the first place. It was packed for first set Friday but about half including myself were guest list. As an agent I always dread to hear the words 'We invite you to stay for the 2nd set at no extra charge' And that's what they announced! Quote
