Christiern Posted August 20, 2003 Report Posted August 20, 2003 Very funny--he used to live in my building. Doormen told me that he hated to part with his dollars--never tipped! Nice guy, however, and he loves jazz. Quote
Noj Posted August 20, 2003 Report Posted August 20, 2003 "Like Kareem I got the hook up"--The sky hook was the most unstoppable offensive weapon ever. Anyone remember when his house burned down and he lost his entire collection of music? Quote
The Mule Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 He does love jazz. One day I was shopping at the Virgin Megastore on the Sunset Strip rummaging through the jazz section and this GIANT HAND reached over me and grabbed a cd. Somewhat startled, I turned around to see who was standing behind me and found myself looking at someone's stomach (and I'm 6' tall). I looked UP and finally saw that Kareem was standing behind me. He said hello, as did I, and we both continued to browse. As I recall, he was looking at the Duke Ellington discs... Quote
RDK Posted August 22, 2003 Report Posted August 22, 2003 Oh sure, I've seen Kareem at a few jazz events here in town over the years. He even spoke (and attended all day) the benefit concert for Billy Higgins shortly before he passed away... Quote
