scottb Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 (edited) The Walton Arts Center has done it again! They've booked another quality jazz musician to an area which is not worthy (size wise at least.) He'll be here Jan 20th. The result is I get to see someone like Pat Martino in an intimate setting (he's playing one the smaller theaters there at the WAC. I'll be at a table 10 feet from him) for a good price (around $30) and WalMart floats the rest of the bill. Just a heads up to anyone close. Let me know if you're coming. Tom Storer Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 Is that Martino's Wes Montgomery Tribute Project? That's how he's billing himself for a March 9 concert here in Paris (for which I have my ticket). Be sure to post a review! Quote

mjzee Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 I saw Pat in Minneapolis in June. First-rate, he was really burning (pet peeve: the pianist was very McCoy Tyner-ish; I so wish young pianists would take inspiration from Sonny Clark instead!), and told an interesting story about hanging out on a Harlem street corner in the early '60's with Wes, George Benson and Grant Green.
