Today the Dutch Persil girl celebrates her 75th birthday. On January 28th 1932 Louis Davids , a popular Dutch crooner, recorded Wat Een Meisje Weten Moet (What A Girl Should Know), an advertisement for PERSIL washing powders. It became one of the most beautiful flexible 78rpm advertisement records from the pre-war Dutch scene. I love to have one myself .... once !

know not of what this is but truly something new to me.

just looked at your flexi site yesterday as a matter of fact. interesting items ... certainly well beyond what was in our magazines back in the 60's ... sure wish I'd kept some of them ... and for the life of me I can't remember even what was on them ... some even punched out from the back of a cereal box.

but the funy thing is is that I'm working on a sketch to support an infant toy rendering and the baby girl holding said item is in almsot an identical pose as Miss Persil.

These ephimeral recordings are pretty rare now, especially the 1920s and 1930s items. Most of these records have nothing to do with jazz or jazzy dance music. I also have a bunch of soundsheets, flexies you call them, from the 1950s and 1960s.
