Miles251 Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 Hey Free For All, Are you back home yet? How was the Southwest? What did you bring me? Quote
Free For All Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 Hey Miles251- So you found me, huh? I'm back in KC. If you'd read the board once in a while and maybe contribute every now and then you'd know what's going on. Wow, 4 posts since you've joined. Why don't you come around a little more often? I think people here would be interested to hear what you have to say. BTW, I brought you what I always bring you so bend over, sonny boy. Quote
Miles251 Posted August 27, 2003 Author Report Posted August 27, 2003 Hey Free For All, Owwwwwy....poignant vibe from KC .....read the board daily and contribute when I have a strong opinion. Glad you are back safely! How 'bout them Royals and Cubbies?! Quote
Free For All Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 (edited) There's been some discussion about the various jazz scenes. Some here were wondering about how Iowa City could have such a hip jazz fest and have it be so well attended in a time when jazz audiences are increasingly fickle. Were a lot of those people locals, or did a lot come from other cities? Probably a mixture, right? The thread is under "Live shows and festivals" and is called "Jazz in the midwest" or something like that. Edited August 27, 2003 by Free For All Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 Jazz (today) in Iowa, Missiouri, and the Midwest, in medium-sized cities vs. college-towns, and I'll bump it up too. Hey Miles251, you wouldn't happen to have source for getting a tape of Andrew Hill's set at the Iowa City festival this year?? I spoke with Greg Tardy at a gig he had here in Kansas City a couple weeks ago (in early August), and he's dyin' to find a copy of that show, if possible. PM me, or send me e-mail, and I can give you Tardy's e-mail address. (The jazz critic for the Kansas City star can back this up, Tardy mentioned the same thing to him.) Oh, and welcome to the board!!! Good to have you around. Any names being knocked around for next year's Iowa City festival??? This was the first year I had been, and was VERY impressed. I'll be back, for sure!!!! Quote
Miles251 Posted August 28, 2003 Author Report Posted August 28, 2003 Rooster....as far as a recording of Andrew Hill at the ICJF....go ot www.KCCK.org (I think). The Fest is being re broadcast over Labor Day weekend and they do stream. Download as needed and spice to taste! Quote
