kh1958 Posted July 12, 2007 Report Posted July 12, 2007 (edited) Dizzy in South America, volumes 1, 2 and 3. CDBaby has all three volumes in stock. http://cdbaby.com/cd/dizzygillespie1 Edited July 12, 2007 by kh1958 Quote
JohnS Posted July 12, 2007 Report Posted July 12, 2007 This is fine music. I seem to remember that Vol 3 is not by the DG big band - local musicians perhaps - but I'm open to correction. Quote

Volume 3 is partly the big band and partly Dizzy playing with local musicians. The big band version of Night in Tunisia on vol. 3 has some of the most incredible Dizzy on record. Quote
ejp626 Posted July 12, 2007 Report Posted July 12, 2007 Vol. 3 is a 2-CD set, with all of disc 2 and maybe part of disc 1 taken up with interviews. Not essential, but worth listening to once or twice. Quote
