Van Basten II
Lucky bastard, i intend to make a trip someday. Keep us posted to tell us how they organize everything, are the shows on time, how good the sound, are fans and staff behaving respectfully towards the on stage talent, etc. Saw in the Montreal fest the Shorter gig with Imani Winds and it was the highlight of the festival. ASNL77
I won't be going this year but I was there a couple of years ago to see Wayne Shorter and Randy Weston. This is a brilliant festival. I love this place. Have a great time!
brownie
Won't be in the area at festival time. I like the lovely city of Marciac when it is not crowded with jazz aficionados! But I will listen to the live brodcasts on France Inter radio from several evenings (Shorter, Rollins, Zorn, Hank Jones...) and watch the concerts when they show up later on the Mezzo TV chanel. Hope you have a good time Steven! and don't drink too much Colombard
ASNL77
Brownie, are you sure that France Inter still broadcast it? I didn't manage to hear a single note played in Marciac last year! It may have been on FIP....
brownie
France-Inter (not FIP) should broadcast the Marciac concerts once more. They had these broadcasts around 2110GMT - after the newsbreaks - during last year's festival. Most of those broadcasts are live.

ASNL77
The France Inter broadcasts schedule for Jazz in Marciac 2007 http://www.radiofrance.fr/franceinter/ev/fiche.php?ev_id=167 Merci! I remember that Arte used to broadcast one or two concerts as well. I remember watching a great performance with Michel Camilo five or six years ago. Do you know if there is any TV coverage planned for this year? I haven't received my Telerama yet... Edited July 30, 2007 by ASNL77
brownie
Mezzo will most surely air a number of concerts from Marciac later in the year. Mezzo is currently showing a series of excerpts from concerts from the first 30 years of the Marciac festival. This evening it's Richard Galliano time, Phil Woods on Wednesday, Guy Lafitte August 6, Kenny Barron August 8, Barney Wilen August 11, Daniel Humair August 13, among others... Mezzo, France 3 and Arte are listed as sponsors for the 2007 festival so those channels will have programs on the festival.
