medjuck Posted September 9, 2007 Report Posted September 9, 2007 The liner notes for "More Live at the Bee Hive" states that the cds present "the group with its second tenor player, Harold Land, who Rollins would replace in November." Who was the first tenor player? Quote
White Lightning Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 Teddy Edwards right! Quote
Cliff Englewood Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 And in a sneeeeeeeeky and sly bit of spam for my current sale, if you would like to hear what he sounded like with the group you can do so by purchasing this item, The Historic California Concerts 1954 from my current sale, in Offering and Looking For... Incidently the liners credit Teddy Edwards for the access to the original tapes without the edits to the other guys solos. Quote
erhodes Posted September 11, 2007 Report Posted September 11, 2007 Teddy Edwards right! The liner notes to the original lp state that it was Sonny Stitt, who played with the band for six weeks on both alto and tenor. Teddy Edwards was the first tenor player to record with the band, not the first one to play with them. Quote
