Bert Joris, one of the best, if not The Best, trumpet player of Europe, made a new album with his quartet, featuring the Italian pianist Dado Moroni titled Maroni

The title is in fact a play upon words of Mother Is Gone and, Bert Joris explains, the word Magone means in the Italian language: A lump in the throat due to sorrows. This tune was dedicated to a friend who recently died and it became the title song of this album. A great and impressive tune, lyrical and sensitive. It was remarkable to learn how these four men were able to create such a fragile atmosphere that you could have heard a pin drop. Even the applause after a solo left undone during these moments. Great !!
