FREDDIE REDD

Tommy Potter, the bass player, whose 1956 album Hard Funk recently was reissued, also had the great be-bop pianoplayer Freddie Redd in his band; during their European tour in 1956 both men made recordings: Freddie Redd made the lp Freddie Redd in Sweden, now available on a beautiful CD reissue by Lonehill Jazz

A few days ago I received both the Tommy Potter and the Freddie Redd CDs in the mail. Have played them both and they are very good. I prefer this early Freddie Redd Trio recording to his trio sessions on Futura, Interplay, Riverside, and Triloka.
