captainwrong Posted February 27, 2008 Report Posted February 27, 2008 Ok, I was looking for the SACD of Way Out West and stumbled across a Hong Kong Naxos version claiming to be multichannel. Anyone know anything about these things? Seems like they have a lot of titles from the Fantasy catalog. I'm curious about sound quality and how the heck you get (I'm assuming) a 5.1 mix out of a two track tape?!? Quote
Claude Posted February 27, 2008 Report Posted February 27, 2008 (edited) Those multichannel mixes from stereo (or even mono) material are computer-generated. They usually put some artificial reverb on the rear channels and create a center and subwoofer signal from the stereo sound. Just ignore the multichannel layer and play the stereo layer. There's a post on this SACD on the Steve Hoffman forum: http://www.stevehoffman.tv/forums/showthread.php?t=96249 Edited February 27, 2008 by Claude Quote
