I'd be there if I wasn't 3000 miles away. Any foreseeable gigs in L.A., Frank? I've enjoyed your discs and would love to check you out live some time.

I really enjoyed Mr. Kimbrough's trio performance last October at the Jazz Improv festival, even though he had to play on a less than stellar piano. And he had some pretty heavy competition at that festival (I also saw Don Friedman, Geri Allen, McCoy Tyner and Onaje Allan Gumbs play that weekend). If I were there (New York), I would be there (St. Peters) for this.

The concert last night was great as Frank played some tunes by Annette Peacock, Andrew Hill, and some of his original compositions. His intensity, focus, and playing were amazing and he ended the set with a killer version of "Azure" by Duke Ellington.

It was a memorable evening for me as he played on a Baldwin piano that used to belong to Billy Strayhorn (a Pittsburgh native)and the concert had a notable guest of honor in attendance being Andrew Hill's widow.

It was certainly a fun event at an enjoyable venue that I hope to visit again on a future trip.

Thanks Frank!
