Hot Ptah Posted April 22, 2008 Report Posted April 22, 2008 I missed Rachael Price's concert at the Folly Theater in Kansas City due to illness. Has anyone seen her live, and what are your impressions of her as a jazz vocalist? Quote
ComputerGuy Posted June 29, 2008 Report Posted June 29, 2008 I missed Rachael Price's concert at the Folly Theater in Kansas City due to illness. Has anyone seen her live, and what are your impressions of her as a jazz vocalist? Wow! I just loved her. I saw her in Flint earlier in the month and the performance was great. I liked Serenade in Blue and there was another that I can't remember the name of at the moment. Definitely worth seeing. I caught her for just a minute after the show and she said to watch her site for info on her CD. But I haven't found any release date yet. Soon I hope. I was really disappointed after the concert to find that there was no CD. I can't even find any performances on youtube. There are a few recordings on her website. Rachaelpricesings.com. Her myspace is myspace.com/rachaelclaireprice but there is not much there either. Quote
sheldonm Posted June 29, 2008 Report Posted June 29, 2008 I saw her a year ago...thought she was ok. Quote
Alexander Posted June 30, 2008 Report Posted June 30, 2008 I missed Rachael Price's concert at the Folly Theater in Kansas City due to illness. Has anyone seen her live, and what are your impressions of her as a jazz vocalist? I caught the very end of her set today at the Freihofer Jazz Fest in Saratoga. She sounded pretty damn good to me (I would have gone to see her whole set, but she was opposite Charles Lloyd (wth Jason Moran), and you know I'm not missing Charles Lloyd!). I went over to the Borders tent to see if they had any of her CDs, but they told me that her managment wouldn't let them sell it (probably because Borders sells such things on consignment, which sometimes jacks up the price). Hot Ptah Posted June 30, 2008 Author Report Posted June 30, 2008 I am trying to place her within the jazz pantheon. Does her style seem to spring from any recognizable sources within the tradition? Quote
