Jazz Artists - influenced and followers

Hello everyone.

My first post here.

I am going to set up a site regarding jazz for those who are not familiar with it and would like to get a closer look.

I am going to create some sort of connection among artists. I will be able to borrow some info from last.fm (similar artists and top tracks and top albums of the main artists). But I would also like to connect jazz musicians by "INFLUENCED BY" and "FOLLOWERS".

I managed to get some info from allmusic.com. But could you advice me other websites where I can get this info?

I'd also appreciate if anyone point me to the sites where I can get information on yearly jazz charts.

Most sites like allmusic.com seem to generate such information with a random computer generator. Might work for your site too. Jazz Mad-Libs.

I would stay away from allmusic - too much inaccurate generalization - better to find the right historians and start reading and listening - Max Harrison, Martin Williams, Dan Morgenstern, et al -

I agree with Allen--stay away from allmusic, they have many uninformed or sloppy writers and the aforementioned computer completes the revisionist tangle.
