Dan Gould Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 One of the dogs at my Sister-in-law's house managed to scratch the screen of their flat-screen TV. Anyone know if there is a product that might allow her to buff out the scratch or somehow fix it? Her Aunt, who paid for the TV, is on a cruise with Mom but when she returns she will likely kill Patty and the dog, so any help is greatly appreciated! Quote
BERIGAN Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 How deep would you say it is??? Listen to what others say before even thinking of using this, but there are products for cars to remove scratches, haze, etc from plastic headlight covers(I just justed plain old paint cleaner on a friends headlight covers-he has ALS and can't do stuff like this anymore) Even products for plastic windows on convertibles. But, needless to say, a flat screen is very different. Last resort stuff I am talking about. Quote
RDK Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 Probably depends on the type of TV it is. Plasma or LCD should have a glass screen, which may or may not have a protective layer of some sort on it. A DLP screen is plastic and usually replaceable; one might be able to buff it out, but I'm not sure. I realize I'm not offering you any good advice at all. Best to do a search for similar incidents over at the AVS forums. Quote
Dan Gould Posted October 11, 2008 Author Report Posted October 11, 2008 Thanks Ray. I suggested to her that she stop at Best Buy and try to get advice there. They've probably had other people ask before. I'll tell her about the AVS forum. A google search revealed that some people recommend vaseline but I am sure that the results are dependent on the type of screen - and my wife doesn't think that Auntie will tolerate a sticky, stained screen!
