Preston Gomez, RIP

When my family lived in Seattle in '61, Preston Gomez was the manager of the San Diego Padres team in the Coast league. Eight years later he was named the manager of the Padres big league expansion team.

I remember well his pulling Clay Kirby while he was pitching a no hitter. I didn't know he also did it to Don Wilson. It's awfully hard to believe that he would make that mistake a second time. Hard enough to believe that he would do it once.
