His centennial's coming up at the end of the month. I've got a Night Lights show in the pipeline that covers his foray into bop (1948-49)...lots of Wardell Gray in that one!

kcr is now working through the selected discography chronologically.

they are currently to august 1931, all as a sideman.

to call this period prolific would be a gross understatement.

benny must have lived, and slept, in recording studios.

Very much like Benny's bop phase - and Charlie Barnet's, too. Have many of those tracks on a couple of Capitol albums which I bought a dozen years ago.
