ejp626 Posted June 11, 2009 Report Posted June 11, 2009 I think Amazon must be going through incredibly fits right now. Either a failed upgrade or maybe even a coordinated service attack. Anyway, virtually all of the CDs and DVDs I've been looking at say currently unavailable, including a bunch of ECMs that I know are still in print. And my basket is completely unavailable. Anyone else having similar probs? I noticed that Amazon.co.uk seemed fine. I imagine it will only last half a day at most, then I will delete the thread. I'm mostly curious if it is across the country, or just if come to Amazon from specific IPs. Quote
Big Wheel Posted June 11, 2009 Report Posted June 11, 2009 Seems fine to me - I just looked up a bunch of Terje Rypdal ECMs to test. Maybe a brief datacenter outage screwed up the system's attempts to talk to its database? Quote
ejp626 Posted June 11, 2009 Author Report Posted June 11, 2009 Weird. It is back up, but I had never had such a widespread problem. It was like their whole inventory was unavailable. Anyway, I'll take the topic down tonight. Quote
Big Wheel Posted June 11, 2009 Report Posted June 11, 2009 (edited) Given the huge scale of some of these sites, major bugs happen more often than you might think (though you don't see most of them because downtime of course equals $$$$ lost and companies have the equivalent of engineering SWAT teams to fix them). I could tell some stories but I don't think my current employer would appreciate it... Edited June 11, 2009 by Big Wheel Quote
