Freddie Hubbard

Spinning this one on this icy Christmas Eve morning. I've always really liked this session. Its actually my favorite Hubbard Blue Note session right along with "Here To Stay", but I notice that it doesn't seem to make many folks' lists of favorite Hubbard recordings. I think what appeals to me the most is the excellent compositions they chose for this session, and the way the band seems to understand them and really just dig in. The songs are varied and the playing is on a very high level. It makes for a very entertaining listen. What do you guys think about this session?

P.S. I think I may have mentioned this in another thread at some point, but I just LOVE the way Philly Joe Jones' drums sound when they were recorded by RVG!
