I've recently listened to "Re-Entry", one of the three sessions Charles Sullivan (now Kamau Muata Adilifu) recorded as a leader, and enjoyed it a lot.

Before I shell out my $$$, I'm interested in your opinion about his 2 other albums: "Kamau" & "Genesis". Any opinion???

I used to have the vinyl of Genesis but it went in a periodic clear out as it wasn't getting played. As i recall it was pretty much of it's time with added percusion. Nice but not essential imo.

I've not come across Kamau but it looks interesting. Craig Handy and the Arabesque label are usually reliable.

Like you I bought the Charles Sullivan - Re-Entry release recently and thought it was excellent.

I'd be interested in getting Genesis if I could find it for a reasonable price. Any offers anyone?

Genesis is great, in my opinion, but I have,t listened to it for a while. Sullivan used to be everywhere, back in those days. A really wonderful player and composer.

Thank you all. I ordered both, Kamau & Genesis (Amazon).

I managed to find a copy of Genesis for a reasonable price and it arrived this morning. What a terrific album - I've been playing it all day. He reminds me a lot of Woody Shaw but unlike Woody he's only had three albums released under his own name. Why?

I've just put an order in for Kamau! :)
