thedwork Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 Grooveshark Internet Radio Station am i late to the party? does everyone know about this place already? so good it's not legal? everybody knows about pandora radio, but this place is totally different and i'd not heard about it until a couple months back. full tunes (albums too), and full control over what you listen to. repeat, fast forward/rewind. search by artist or tune and the library there is pretty deep. check it out. seeline Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 (edited) Hype Machine and Stereomood work much the same way as Grooveshark, by aggregating and streaming content found all over the internet. (Both are free, but require signup in order to get unlimited access.) Blip.fm is similar, although you have to sign up for a free "DJ account" in order to access the search features. (PS.: My Hype Machine link above is shameless self-promotion; their main URL is here.) Edited to add: Personally, I'm not a Pandora fan... I don't think their setup (which is designed to suggest music via automated analysis of the characteristics of what you're listening to) works well in practice, though it's better now that their library is bigger. Early on, it actually coughed up Perry Como songs after I'd listened to some Brazilian music. (Then again, maybe I'm just "strange." ) Edited June 20, 2010 by seeline Quote
GA Russell Posted June 21, 2010 Report Posted June 21, 2010 I have a beef with Pandora. It considers Cal Tjader a Latin artist, and plays only Latin music when I want to hear him and other vibraharpists. Quote
