GA Russell Posted July 22, 2010 Report Posted July 22, 2010 Ralph Houk has died. I remember one year he managed the AL All-Star team, maybe '62, and in the ninth inning, seven of the nine players were Yankees! http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/baseball/ralph-houk-dies-at-90/article1647918/ Quote
Dave James Posted July 22, 2010 Report Posted July 22, 2010 I guess for Yankee fans, this validates the old adage, "bad things happen in threes." Although not at the same level as the passing of The Boss and The Voice of God, Houk certainly has his place in the team's historical heirarchy. Don't forget, he was the guy who replaced Casey Stengel. No small shoes to fill, those. He won two world championships with New York and later managed both the Red Sox and the Tigers. He was 90.
