brownie Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 271 previously unknown works by Picasso surfaced after being kept for decades in a Riviera garage! From CNN Picasso's son Claude described the collection as of "historic importance". He insists however that the works must have been stolen. This has yet to be proven! Quote
Christiern Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 The electrician's story is very suspect, and he has given it some variations. The collection includes some extremely valuable work from Picasso's earliest years and I find it difficult to believe that he would have parted with some of these things in this manner. Then, too, there is the fact that the guy waited until the statute of limitations ran out. Also, why did he keep these things hidden away? The more one thinks about this, the more one concludes that the Picasso family isn't just showing greed. That's my immediate 2¢ Quote
cih Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 I agree - total nonsense. So Picasso hangs onto these papier collé items of enormous historical significance for 60 years and then gives them to his electrician. He was still producing plenty of multiples at the time that he could have given as gifts. Quote
