Baritone saxophonist Hamiet Bluiett http://hamietbluiett.com/ arrived in St. Louis in the mid-60's, in time to join Lester Bowie, Oliver Lake, and Julius Hemphill in the Black Artist's Group. Since 1976 his amazing 5 octave range is heard in the World Saxophone Quartet.
