One word - Phenomenal

The first set was really good. The second - incredible. Took me to another place.

Best version of Truckin' I've ever heard - nice long slow intro followed by a relaxed version of Truckin' that had you cherish every note. They jammed after that and went into Smokestack Lighting, followed by the second half of Truckin'. Of course, being in Buffalo - the truckin off to Buffalo line was special - the crowd sang along and I got goosebumps and a big smile. Some terrific jazz oriented jams filled the second set as well.

Went with my 17 year old son. Was nice to share to moments with him. I also took him to the Dead show in 09.

Ed,

I had some friends who went to the Friday and Saturday night gigs in Eugene, Oregon a few weeks ago. They brought back CD's of both shows. Based on this "documentation" and their personal accounts, it sounds to these worn out old ears that Further has improved to the point that you can really talk about them in the same breath as the Dead and not risk having your face stolen off your head. Don't get me wrong, I'll always love the original crew, and there's only one Jerry, but I really think the musicianship in Further is at an even higher level. I'm also convinced that they've done something to process Bobby's voice as he sounds way better to me than he ever has. Not complaining. The backup vocals have also improved. When I saw Further in Portland a year or so ago, Sunshine Garcia was way back in the mix. She's now more up front and the band is the better for it. Some great music going on here. Anyone who's on the fence about shelling out to see these guys should go ahead and take the plunge. I doubt they'd be disappointed.
