As someone who has a pension from teaching, I've often thought about the difference between me and full-time musicians. So I'm very pleased to see that nowadays an increasing number of jazz musicians on both sides of the Atlantic are able to continue performing while holding academic posts with pension rights.

There is a pension, if you join the Union. This is about something else.

Singling out jazz (sorry Payton)clubs, is detrimental to the scene, since it would raise already high ticket prices.
