thedwork Posted February 29, 2012 Report Posted February 29, 2012 (edited) Any comments on Jeremy's latest? Same working unit which is defintely a good thing. i reviewed Pelt's Identity when it came out quite a few years back, but i haven't been able to keep up w/ his output - too busy w/ other stuff, etc etc... it was a very good recording and he's an excellent player. he's also seemingly a very nice guy as he emailed me back when i alerted him to my new review of Identity. iirc he had some quite balanced things to say about music criticism/journalism generally as well, but i could be wrong about that. the fact that JD Allen is on this new recording makes me want to simply buy it. Pelt and Allen as a frontline trumpet/tenor combo sounds too good to pass up... Edited February 29, 2012 by thedwork Quote
jazzkrow Posted February 29, 2012 Report Posted February 29, 2012 This is a great CD. I love Jeremy's band, which he has kept intact for several years. Soul may be the best among the bunch IMHO... I recommend it. Quote
Tom 1960 Posted February 29, 2012 Author Report Posted February 29, 2012 Excellent guys. I'm kind of the same mind with Pelt and Allen on the frontline, you can't go wrong. I'll also add, Gerald Cleaver behind the drumkit is no slouch either. Quote
JETman Posted February 29, 2012 Report Posted February 29, 2012 Excellent guys. I'm kind of the same mind with Pelt and Allen on the frontline, you can't go wrong. I'll also add, Gerald Cleaver behind the drumkit is no slouch either. Cleaver is a drummer's drummer, if you will. He can play anything, and does so expertly. In today's world of music, if a drummer's presence MAKES me want to purchase a recording, it would be his. Quote
