these potential collections, considering the total amount owed in this country, have the potential of making considerable personal economic impact.

i'm not suggesting that the collections should not go forward, but the bite to retired cosigners might be severe, considering that retirees receive essentially no interest on their retirement accounts, and will not, in the forseeable future.
