BeBop Posted August 11, 2012 Report Posted August 11, 2012 i can only dream My connections to all of this are odd, to say the least. I took an interest in high end audio in the 70s. Met/befriended a lot of the luminaries. Spend some time working "adjacent to" (not "for") Sony/Phillips on the original CDP-101 CD Player (back when it was anticipated that the CD would aspire to quality sound from the git-go). I've written about the industry, and was involved in the first CAS show, and twenty or more years of its predecessors in California audio-focused shows. alocispepraluger102 Posted August 11, 2012 Author Report Posted August 11, 2012 (edited) thanks for the perspective. how many truly have hearing capable of appreciating the nuances, when they exist? these 70 year old ears certainly cannot. then there is that pervasive earbud/cd/mp3 culture......... jazzbo Posted August 11, 2012 Report Posted August 11, 2012 I'm a believer in high quality audio playback, and I have a lot of fun with audio. I'd only have the highest end stuff if i won the Lottery, but if I did, I would! I've spent about as much on my system as some would on a nice used luxury car. . . I don't own a car, so factor that in. Audio purchases are where my beer and cigarette money used to go as well. I have a great collection and I enjoy having a very nice and flexible system to play my recordings back on and also view and hear TV and films. And I won't apologize for it. Quote
