Lazaro Vega Posted August 21, 2012 Report Posted August 21, 2012 Blue Lake Public Radio celebrates the anniversary of Count Basie's birth with a special program tonight from 10 p.m. 3 a.m.Unlike previous retrospective programs on Basie, tonight's broadcast starts with the mid-1950's break out album "Count Basie Swings, Joe Williams Sings," and in the first 20 minutes of each hour we'll zoom in on the albums that followed: "April In Paris," the Basie/Williams standards album, "E=MC2...," the Williams/Lambert, Hendricks and Ross plus Basie Band recording, and the 1957 Newport Jazz Festival recording. Add to that Von Freeman interpreting music associated with the Basie band (Every Tub, Blue Prez, Swingin' the Blues and Lester Leaps In), and you can see what kind of August evening you're in for. Please join us on WBLV FM 90.3/WBLU FM 88.9 or streaming live from the Blue Lake Public Radio free app for iPhone or Android devices, and via http://www.bluelake.org/radio.html Quote
