robviti Posted January 31, 2004 Report Posted January 31, 2004 I just saw a used copy of this disc for $7.99 at a nearby store called Planet Records. They also had the group's follow-up Plays Bach. You can contact them at: planet@tiac.net. Quote

Rooster_Ties Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 If this is the disc I'm thinking of (arrangements by Bob Beldon, and it's a piano trio plus vibes - with stephon harris on vibes, and maybe mulgrew miller on keys, and ron carter on bass), then I thought I mention what a great CD this is. Highly recomended. (Can't remember all the details of it, and from my Mom's iMac, I'm not gonna try to figure out how to open up mulitple windows to check the details from the AMG.) Can't believe it's out of print already -- didn't it just come out about one year ago?? Quote
robviti Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 (edited) actually, this disc was released in 2001. i'm not sure if it's really out of print, per se, or merely "undistributed." i came across a notice from navarre corp. stating that they would no longer distribute vertical jazz titles as of September 2003. the label's website is still up, however, and they continue to list this cd and its follow up. btw, the website also mentions two upcoming performances of the classical jazz quartet: March 18, 2004 at Orchestra Hall, Detroit, MI and April 14, 2004 at the Williams Center for the Arts, Lafayette College in Easton, PA. Rooster_Ties Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 Has anybody heard their recent disc of Bach arrangements??? I was pretty darn interested in finding it, one of these days. Quote
marcoliv Posted March 28, 2004 Author Report Posted March 28, 2004 jazzshrink, it took me some time to have them here in Rio but i would like to thank you on the lead about Planet Records. i got them without the front cover as they forgot to ship along with the discs but i´m not pissed off with them as i got the music which is far more important. Rooster, in my modest opinion, Play Bach is superior than the Tchaikovsky one. i can easily recommend it to you. thanks guys once again for all your help Marcus Oliveira Quote
