There is a nice, heartfelt tribute to Dave Brubeck by the political commentator E.J. Dionne in Washington Post today. But there is also this comment by one of the readers.

"Pretty much you can blame Brubeck and Charlie Parker for the demise of Jazz. Their tendency to blow notes that have no resemblance or contribution to the theme of the tune made Jazz irrelevent to music. You had to be "enlightened" to pretend you were enjoying the crap they were putting out."
