RogerF Posted January 1, 2013 Report Posted January 1, 2013 I think this lost a couple of words in the title, possibly should have read "Jazz is dead at the BBC". If you want to immediately elevate your blood pressure to danger level you can hear it on the BBC iPlayer. A truly depressing start to the year but then again maybe a manifesto explaining the dearth of jazz output by the UK's premiere radio broadcaster. Depressing not because the title is accurate but because of its inaccuracy. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01phg6m Quote
sidewinder Posted January 1, 2013 Report Posted January 1, 2013 (edited) And this from a broadcaster who gave us a TV documentary on Sun Ra not much over 5 years ago ! Not to mention 'Jazz Britannia'. Edited January 1, 2013 by sidewinder Quote
sidewinder Posted January 1, 2013 Report Posted January 1, 2013 (edited) Just given it a listen - no great revelations and I would think that the same show with the same general conclusions could have been made back in the mid-1970s. Paul Morley's thoughts on music are always worth a listen. Edited January 1, 2013 by sidewinder Quote
RogerF Posted January 1, 2013 Author Report Posted January 1, 2013 For me, the problem with it apart from the title was it was trying to have its cake and eat it. Jazz is dead "oh no it isn't" "oh yes it is" etc etc ad nauseum. Still this is the pantomime season I guess. Quote
