That bass player doesn't need to smile that much. There's always gigs for a bass player. At least more than for anybody else, except piano players, DJs, and karaoke machines.

Round here we're finding that visiting American musicians (Pat Martino, Gary Smulyan, Jim Rotondi/EricAlexander) are turning up these days with an organist and drummer, but no bass player - or pianist, of course. One less mouth to feed in a recession.
