Just received an e-mail that Jesse Winchester, one of my favorite songwriters and singers has passed away.

I first heard Jesse in 1982, and although his was not the kind of music I generally listened to back then, his words and his voice often touched me deep inside. Rest now, Jesse, with your feet in Dixie and your soul where it always belonged.
