Tonight on Jazz From Blue Lake, please join Blue Lake Public Radio for the music of pianist/composer/educator Steve Talaga. “Contemplating the Heavens” is neither one style or another: it’s a 16 movement work based on four tonal centers that define variety through different rhythms and instrumental combinations. Steve’s music was commissioned by Linda Foster to accompany her 9 line poems found in the chapbook “Contemplating the Heavens.” And it is a major work by one of Grand Rapids premier musical minds utilizing some of the greatest players in the State today.
