Lighter Buttermilks For Today's Modern Tastes

Is buttermilk a strictly American product?

I've never seen it in either Japan or UK.

I only drink full fat milk, with most of my consumption in home made yoghurt.

I can't abide the low fat variety, it has no taste.

I have never tasted buttermilk, but whenever I hear the word, I think of the song "Bloodshot Eyes"

 

Bloody hell, that's a lot of syrup on those pancakes
