garthsj Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 (edited) I posted this CD on the "What I am currently listening to" thread, but I also thought that I would give a strong recommendation here .. this CD comes packaged with a DVD which has an amazing number of extra goodies, including a documentary on how the disc was made; artist interviews; transcriptions and analyses of solos; printable music from a PC (haven't tried this on my Mac yet); and links to related websites ... Besides which the music is wonderful ... Brookmeye; Wheeler; John Hollenbeck, d; Jeremy Allen, b; and Frank Carlberg, p. Garth. Edited March 16, 2004 by garthsj Quote
Claude Posted March 16, 2004 Report Posted March 16, 2004 As all of Brookmeyers projects from the last years, this is very well composed and played. Kenny Wheeler is a welcome addition to his music. The added DVD is very interesting indeed. The 24Bit/96KHz music part may only be interesting for audiophiles, and the scores, explanatory texts (PDF) and spoken introductions (mp3) only for musicians, but the video documentaries and interviews are really nice features for everyone, although the technical realization is rather amateurish. But the price of this package is only $14, so the DVD is a free add-on. Quote

Free For All Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 I like this one a lot, of course I'm a fan of both Bob Brookmeyer & Kenny Wheeler, and like pretty much everything they've done. Quote
