brownie Posted March 30, 2004 Report Posted March 30, 2004 The Paris Jazz Corner people have released a CD that gathers rare tracks recorded by Toots Thielemans in 1950 and 1951 (including the 'All The Things You Are' that Toots played with Zoot Sims when the two were touring Europe with the Benny Goodman Septet) plus the very rare Just Jazz 1952 concert that had harmonica-playing policeman Les Thompson playing alongside Conte Candoli, Wardell Gray, Dexter Gordon, Bobby Tucker, Don Bagley and Chico Hamilton on three tunes (Thompson is the only soloist). The concert was released on a RCA 10-incher and was never reissued. A note from Paris Jazz Corner about their new CD is at the bottom of this page: http://www.parisjazzcorner.com/uk/dis_list...u&page=1∏=1 Quote
BeBop Posted April 19, 2004 Report Posted April 19, 2004 Wow. Must be nearing the bottom of the reissue barrel. I'm referring only to the Les Thompson sides, since I haven't heard the Toots material. Not a 10 incher I pull out very often. Quote
